WASHINGTON, DC – The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) is pleased to announce the addition of Jim Jellison, MPH as its Vice President of Technology, Strategy and Innovation. Mr. Jellison joins NNPHI October 2nd and will lead the organization’s work related to public health informatics and data modernization, leveraging NNPHI’s network of over 40 public health institutes.

“After an extensive national search, I am honored to welcome Jim Jellison to serve in this role,” said Christopher Kinabrew, MPH, MSW, NNPHI’s Senior Vice President, Programs.  “Jim’s experience leading national initiatives, depth and breadth of health informatics expertise, and grounding in governmental public health practice will enhance our network’s contributions to a stronger, more resilient public health system.”

Mr. Jellison was most recently at the MITRE Corporation where he led work supporting CDC’s Data Modernization Initiative. Before joining MITRE, he managed a team at the Task Force for Global Health’s Public Health Informatics Institute and led electronic case reporting and chronic disease surveillance projects. This included working with state and local public health agencies, healthcare providers, and health IT industry partners to pilot and evaluate interoperability initiatives. As a CDC Public Health Informatics Fellow, Jim conducted feasibility assessments for mobile applications and interactive web-based query systems at the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. Prior to the fellowship, Jim worked for the Nashville TN public health agency developing informatics infrastructure for geographic information systems, infectious disease surveillance, emergency preparedness, and environmental health. Jim holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from East Tennessee State University and a Bachelor of Arts in the Social Sciences from Michigan State University.

“For over 20 years, I have been dedicated to building informatics and data exchange capacity for public health agencies and their partners. The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the need for ramping up attention to data modernization, and many additional opportunities for data sharing,” Mr. Jellison shared. “I am thrilled to be joining NNPHI and look forward to accelerating the impactful work the organization and members are doing.”

Mr. Jellison will be based in Atlanta, GA.
