Welcome to Mercer University’s Department of Public Health!
The Mercer Department of Public Health offers Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH), Master of Public Health (MPH), and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees. The Doctor of Public Health degree has concentrations in Social Epidemiology and Diverse Populations and Health Equity. We also offer combined degrees with the MPH degree and a Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Clinical Psychology, and Master of Medical Science. Programs are offered on the Macon campus (BSPH), Atlanta campus (MPH and DrPH), and online (MPH and DrPH) to meet the needs of all students.
The mission of our public health programs is to produce public health professionals through integrating public health education, service, and research to engage communities (including minority, rural, and aging populations) in improving population health, eliminating health disparities, and achieving health equity and social justice. The curriculum is designed to create public health professionals who are committed and passionate about reducing health disparities to bring about sustainable and positive changes in health by providing an emphasis on health equity among diverse populations established across all tiers of the curriculum.
We have a diverse and dedicated faculty and staff who are excited about public health and our potential to impact the world positively as we pursue our mission through our educational programs, our academic research, and our service. Our students engage in practical experiences with notable public health organizations to apply their classroom knowledge and skills in navigating a complex and changing healthcare environment in the field.
