We invite you to learn about Asian Health Equity!

The Asian Health Coalition works to improve the health and wellness of Asian American, Pacific Islander, African, and other immigrant communities of color through advocacy, technical assistance, education, and research. Working with over 45 different ethnic community-based organizations throughout the country, we utilize a collaborative partnership approach to support the development and implementation of culturally and linguistically appropriate health programs and initiatives.

The Center for Advancing Health Equity in Rural and Underserved Communities (CAHE-RUC) is a partnership between Penn State College of Medicine and the Asian Health Coalition that brings together the assets of a world class research institution and a respected non-profit organization to investigate health disparities that disproportionately affect Asian, African, and other immigrant populations. We take a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach through a comprehensive program for research, health education, teaching, community engagement, and information dissemination.

 Press Releases

  • Effective 9/1/2023, the Center for Asian Health Equity (CAHE) at the University of Chicago Medicine will expand to the Center for Advancing Health Equity in Rural and Underserved Communities (CAHE-RUC) at the Penn State College of Medicine. This transition aligns with the start of Dr. Karen Kim’s, MD, MS new role as Dean of Medicine at the Penn State College of Medicine, commencing 9/1/2023.

Since 2015 and under the leadership of Dr. Kim and Fornessa T. Randal, CAHE has been at the forefront of tackling a variety of complex public health and equity-related issues that disproportionately affect immigrants and communities of color. CAHE’s programmatic portfolio includes cancer screening and prevention, chronic and infectious disease prevention, behavioral and mental health awareness, engagement and recruitment of populations historically under-represented in research, language access evaluation, health-related data disaggregation, and clinical trial research.

As CAHE-RUC, our work will continue in earnest at local, regional, and national levels. The current and ongoing partnerships, with community-based organizations, health systems, county health departments, and corporate foundations will continue to drive meaningful community-level, public health impact for underserved communities.
