Join us to make the case for laws that improve health!

At the Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University's Beasley School of Law we believe that law is a powerful tool that can advance public health and well-being, but also recognize the historical and contemporary harms that law can have. By developing and promoting the measurement and evaluation of the law’s impact, we strive to support proactive and creative policies that advance public health and well-being for all.

We develop and teach public health law research and legal epidemiology methods; research laws and policies that improve health, increase access to care, and create or remove barriers to health; develop technology that supports scientific legal research, and share evidence to facilitate innovation.

We love to collaborate! Here's how you can work with us.

 Press Releases

  • At the Center for Public Health Law Research, our library or legal datasets and research resources is ever-expanding. Here are a few of the most recent additions to our collection:

    Newest Legal Data and Research

State Bills Relating To Vaccines In Schools And Provider Scopes Of Practice – This longitudinal dataset captures legislation addressing school entry vaccination requirements, non-medical exemptions to school vaccination requirements, the reallocation of authority to determine vaccination requirements for schools, and expansions to provider scope of practice to administer vaccines between January 1, 2023, and May 22, 2023, in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia.

Act for Public Health data and analysis on public health authority – This suite of legal data captures details of legislation — bills that were enacted and those that were not — that addresses emergency health authority introduced between January 1, 2021, and October 6, 2023, in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia.

Policies For Pediatric ADHD Medication Prescriptions – New data explore state regulations across the US in place that manage access to ADHD prescription medications for children under 18 years old. These include prior authorization requirements that restrict approvals to patients of a certain age or that require additional provider involvement for specific medications before approval for payment is granted.
