MEDICC, a nonprofit based in Oakland, CA, has worked since 1997 to promote US-Cuba and global health cooperation. MEDICC highlights Cuba’s public health approaches to inform the quest for health equity and universal health worldwide.  MEDICC holds Guidestar's "Gold Seal of Transparency" for 2020.

MEDICC facilitates learning through:

• the open-access, peer-reviewed journal, MEDICC Review, is a unique platform that gives voice to Latin American and Caribbean praxis addressing today’s critical interactions between human health, development of sustainable societies, and the health of our planet.  MEDICC Review's 2020 issues delve into Cuba's effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  www.mediccreview.org
   
• the Gateways Educational Travel program organizes educational trips to Cuba for groups of US health professionals and students.  Since 2004, the Gateways program has planned programs and travel for APHA, STFM, major US universities and health systems, US Congressional delegations, groups interested in particular health issues or populations, and many others.
   
• Community Partnerships for Health Equity (CPHE) is a network of marginalized communities in the US and their academic and clinical partners.  Addressing structural inequities, they work towards improving health and the environment, while empowering youth leadership toward lasting change.
   
• MEDICC's MD Pipeline to Community Service offers professional assistance to US students and graduates of Cuba’s Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM).  These unique students and graduates are diverse American citizens from underserved communities who return after their ELAM education to serve as leaders and change agents in primary care across the country.  They are bilingual, interculturally competent, and dedicated to supporting health equity and social justice in the US.
  
  
• In the mid 2000s, MEDICC produced Salud the Film, to international acclaim.  The documentary explores the wide-reaching international impact of Cuba's medical internationalism.  The film is available for free downloading or streaming, or DVD copies are available for purchase from MEDICC.
   
• MEDICC advocates and supports US-Cuba cooperation that benefits the health of all people, emphasizing its urgency for vulnerable populations.
