AdventHealth Tampa, a 536-bed, tertiary care facility, is committed to providing a whole patient care experience – mind, body and spirit – serving as the flagship facility for the AdventHealth West Florida Division. Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is dedicated to building on a resident’s clinical knowledge foundation and fostering growth in clinical and professional skills. Our dedicated preceptors will work closely with you to assist in meeting your professional goals and will provide the expertise, training, and support to further your growth. Each learning experience within the program is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to clinical and administrative components of hospital pharmacy practice.

General Information
- Positions available: 2 full-time, 12-month commitment
- Estimated annual stipend: $45,000 + meeting travel support
- 12 months immediate health insurance
- 10 days paid vacation; 10 project days
- Weekend, and evening service commitment required

Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Possession or eligibility for Florida licensure
- Participant in the National Matching Service and PhORCAS
- The following application materials must be submitted by the deadline: curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation utilizing the PhORCAS template, transcripts from all colleges of pharmacy attended

- Department staffing every other weekend, and 1 4.5-hr evening shift every week
- Participation will also be expected in the following: Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Drug Shortage Committee performance improvement projects, and student/employee teaching

Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Critical Care and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director
Learning Experience: Critical CareDr. Shejal Swaly received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2008 and went on to complete an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. After completion of her residency she continued on with LRMC, working as a critical care clinical pharmacy specialist focused on providing care in the medical/surgical and trauma intensive care units. She joined the AdventHealth team in 2013. Her responsibilities include providing pharmaceutical care services for the patients in the medical and neuro ICU and also participating in daily rounds with the Critical Care team. Dr. Swaly precepts the PGY1 residents and is an active member on the Residency Advisory Committee. She also holds appointments with the University of Florida, precepting and mentoring pharmacy interns. Dr. Swaly is an active member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
Megan Allen, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS
Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Pediatrics
Learning Experience: PediatricsDr. Megan Allen received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy in 2010. She went on to complete her ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Lancaster General Health followed by completion of her ASHP-accredited PGY2 in Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital. Prior to joining the AdventHealth Tampa team in 2019, she practiced at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She is an active member of American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP), Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, and Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG).
John Snyder, PharmD, BCPS, BCIDP, AAHIVP

Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacist
Learning Experience: Internal MedicineDr. Jaclyn Cole is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy (USF COP) with a focus on Internal Medicine. She also serves as the founding Program Director for the USF COP Teaching Certificate Program. She graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM-Bradenton) and completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. She has been published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented posters and presentations on her research at various state and national organizational meetings. She is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP), and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Incorporated. Dr. Cole was also elected as the 2018-2019 National President for the Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) Pharmacy Leadership Society, an organization that focuses on the recognition and development of leadership within pharmacy.
Richard Dance, PharmD, BCPS
Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacist
Learning Experience: CardiologyDr. Richard Dance received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2013. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York, NY. Dr. Dance joined AdventHealth Tampa in 2016. Prior to AdventHealth Tampa he worked as a clinical pharmacist at AdventHealth Orlando in Internal Medicine. He is an active member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP).
Philip Nettle, PharmD, BCPS
Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacist
Learning Experience: Internal MedicineDr. Philip Nettle received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 2017. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Nettle joined AdventHealth in 2018. His practice interests include glycemic management, anticoagulation and infectious disease. He precepts both PGY-1 and APPE students and is an active member of the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists(FSHP).
Shannon Robb, PharmD, BCPS
Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Pain Management
Learning Experience: Pain Management, Palliative CareDr. Shannon Robb received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University College of Pharmacy in 2015 and completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Robb joined AdventHealth Tampa as the clinical pharmacist specialist in pain management. She serves as co-chairperson for the Pain Management Committee and is an active member of the Residency Advisory Committee.
Melissa Ruble, PharmD, BCPS
Title/Position: Assistant Professor at University of South Florida
Learning Experience: Teaching, AcademiaDr. Melissa Ruble received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy in 2009. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa, FL with an interest in emergency medicine and toxicology. Dr. Ruble joined the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy and AdventHealth in 2013. Prior to joining AdventHealth, she was an Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Specialist at St. Anthony's Hospital for 4 years. She is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
Laleh Emami, PharmD
Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacist
Learning Experience: Emergency MedicineDr. Laleh Emami received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 2018 and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at AdventHealth Tampa with interests in emergency medicine, critical care and infectious disease. She continued with AdventHealth Tampa as a clinical pharmacist and has been practicing as the Emergency Medicine Pharmacist since March of 2020. Dr. Emami also serves as the lead Stroke Pharmacist and is an active member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy(ACCP).
Thierry Phouthavong, PharmD, BCPS
Title/Position: Clinical Pharmacist
Learning Experience: Internal MedicineDr. Phouthavong received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida - College of Pharmacy in 2016 and completed his Post Graduated Year 1 at Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Orlando, FL. Post residency, he specialized in ambulatory care at North Florida/ South Georgia Veterans Health System in Lake City/ Gainesville, FL. In 2018, Dr. Phouthavong joined AdventHealth. His practice interests are within internal and emergency medicine.
