Expedite Solar Site Surveying with Teren

Accelerate project timelines and lower costs during solar construction with topography, stormwater, and clearing analyses.

Teren is a climate resilience analytics company who helps wind and solar developers build and operate resilient infrastructure. With Teren, solar developers can reduce field labor, survey, and earth works costs by using high-fidelity data to inform site design and planning. Civil, stormwater, tree clearing, and shading analytics save significant time so you can get to market sooner.

 Products

  • Civil/Topography Analytics
Teren provides LiDAR data collection and analytics 60X faster than anyone else. Reduce field labor, survey, and earth works costs by using more precise data....

  • Teren captures high-fidelity LiDAR to create a 3D image of the surface (DSM). Using AI, we penetrate foliage and remove vegetation to reveal underlying terrain (DTM) and provide 1ft and 2ft contours. Our civil package includes:

    • Digital Surface Model (DSM) for Site Selection, and Clearing Quantities.
    • Digital Terrain Model (DTM) for Site Survey, Cut/Fill, Stormwater, Clearing, and Contours.
    • Contours for Site Survey, Cut/Fill, and Stormwater.
    • Optional Ground Control (GCP) Report to achieve ± 10cm RMSEz for Site Survey.
  • Stormwater & Vegetation Analytics
Stormwater, tree clearing, and shading analytics save significant time so you can get to market sooner....

  • With Teren, design teams can minimize environmental impact while keep projects on schedule.

    Stormwater/Hydrology

    • Surface Hydrology calculates overland flow and the dominant flowpaths to inform site selection, cut/fill, and stormwater planning.
    • Problematic Flowpaths extracts flow paths that contain the highest streampower to inform site selection, cut/fill, and stormwater planning.
    • Inundation identifies areas on the site that are prone to flooding or ponding to inform site selection, cut/fill, and stormwater planning.

    Vegetation

    • Clearing Volume uses the DSM and Teren’s AI to identify individual trees and their canopies. This is used to calculate tree height, basal area and canopy cover to estimate the total volume per acre of biomass. Uses: Site Selection and Clearing Quantities
    • Cleared DSM combines the DTM and DSM to model post-clearing conditions within the site boundary for shading analysis and selective clearing.
    • Perimeter Trees Calculates tree height and canopy cover on the outside of the site boundaries to inform shading analysis and selective clearing.
    • Shade Model & Areas Uses the Cleared DSM and the Perimeter Trees to calculate the extent of shadows on the site surface at certain times of the year to inform selective clearing and array placement.
