  • GEOsix Low Power Digitizer/Recorder

    GEObit introduces GEOsix series high resolution 6+1 analog seismic channels telemetry digitizer/recorder. The size of the instrument is only 168 x 106 x 68mm. The power consumption is only 1.2W for 6 channels. The available sampling rate is 100 to 500sps/6ch, 100 to 1000sps/3ch and optional lower sampling intervals are supported. Built-in GPS receiver combined with ultra-accurate DPLL unit providing time drift 10e-9 sec ensures timing stability even in the absence of GPS signal. NTP timing is also available. The unit is very flexible and accepts several types of analog front end units so any type of seismic sensor can be connected. Additionally, it provides eight extra-low resolution and rate analog inputs for seismometer mass position monitoring, or any other environmental parameter monitoring.
    Eight TTL command outputs are supported for seismometer control or for any other external device control. Typically the digitizer supports differential variable gain preamplifier. Our force-balance sensor front end is also supported, providing a wide-band response (10sec – 98Hz) and high sensitivity 1500V/m/s by connecting a C100 sensor. Acquisition parameters and operation modes can be set from the user – friendly web interface.

    The GEOtinyAC! compact digital accelerograph

    GEOtinyAcc is a compact miniature digital accelerograph which integrates three acceleration channels. Actually is a GEOtiny! seismometer equipped with acceleration sensor. It supports high resolution 24bit digitizer (optional 32bit ADC), embedded linux OS and GPS or NTP timing. Seedlink server ensures reliable real-time data telemetry while large storage volume ensures long period local data recording. The instrument has very low power consumption so it can operate getting powered from a small 12Vdc battery.

    Design simplicity is the great advantage and it is reflected to the price which is only a fraction of the price of common commercial accelerographs. The sensor delivers superior signal-to-noise ratio and broadband response. The accelerograph communicates through ethernet CAT5 connection or wifi. The user has just to plug the power on and connect with the unit. The device is compliant with the Los Angeles building code.

    The S-20 near broadband seismic sensor

    The S-20 seismometer is a three-component velocity output near broad band seismic sensor. The design is based on the electronic velocity feedback which is applied to single coil low period geophone. The frequency bandwidth is extended from 50Hz, down to 20sec. 

    Two sensor types are provided, a borehole seismometer type and a surface seismometer type.

    The borehole type is housed into a 80mm diameter casing while the surface type unit’s diameter is 130mm. The cable length is typically 10 meters. It can be extended to 100 meters or more if required.

    No mass-lock or centering is required that makes an easy connection with the digitizer. The settling time of the unit is very short, only one minute. Sensitivity is 1500V/m/sec (differentially) thus providing a very sensitive seismic sensor. A test line is also provided for calibration and testing.

    The sensor is ideal for regional earthquake seismology and low frequency grumbling of volcanoes as well as for aftershock studies.

    The S-100 wide band seismic sensor (Surface type)

    The S-100 is a three-component velocity equivalent output seismic sensor. The unit is ideal for local and regional seismicity and microseismicity monitoring as well as, for induced micro-seismicity monitoring.

    The design is based on the force-balance principle, Using three geophone elements, the bandwidth is extended to a lower frequency of the original geophone’s natural frequency. Actually three generations of the S-100 sensor have been implemented. Several low and upper corner frequencies provided through different senor configurations. Thus, 10s, 5s, 2s, and 1s low cut frequency corner is available as well as 50, 80 and 98 Hz high cut frequency corner. The sensitivity is 1000V/m/sec for the Mk1 version while it has been increased to 1500V/m/sec for the Mk2 and Mk3 versions.

    The surface type has similar characteristics to the borehole type. No mass-lock or centering is required that makes easy the connection with the digitizer. The settling time of the unit is very short, only thirty seconds. Sensitivity is 1500V/m/sec (differentially) thus providing a very sensitive seismic unit. A test line is also provided for calibration and testing.

    GEOtiny! Compact Digital Seismometer

    GEOtiny is a compact miniature digital seismometer which integrates three seismic and three acceleration channels. It supports high resolution 24bit digitizer, embedded linux OS and GPS or NTP timing. Seedlink server ensures reliable real time data telemetry while large storage volume ensures long period local data recording. The instrument has very low power consumption so it can operate getting powered from a small 12V DC battery. Due to its small size provides the ability to be buried underground. Modular sensor interface allows the user to select between a variety of sensor types and frequency corners (10sec, 5sec, 2sec, 1sec, 2Hz, 4,5Hz), thus covering the short period and wide band seismic range. Design simplicity is the great advantage and it is reflected to the price which is only fraction of the common commercial seismometers. The user is able to deploy even 100% more units than using common seismometers at same cost.
