The Z uses the technique of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). LIBS is an optical technique and is therefore very sensitive to the low atomic number elements. The SciAps X-550 sets a new performance standard for handheld XRF. Weighing 2.8 lbs. (1.3 kg) with the battery, it’s the lightest, fastest, most articulate X-ray gun ever made. It delivers the small size, blazing speed and high precision of the SciAps X Series in a perfectly balanced device. It’s fast on all alloys, including aluminums. The X-550 uses the industry’s most powerful X-ray tube, operating up to 3x the power in the Beam 2 setting compared to the SciAps X-505 and other handheld XRF analyzers. The unique geometry and tube power optimize performance for low atomic number measurement applications including sulfidic corrosion (low Si), phosphorus and sulfur, and aluminum alloys, as well as for residuals analysis per API 751 and 5L specifications.

Soil: The Soil app uses three different tube conditions to achieve the highest level of sensitivity for elements P–U. The Soil app is calibrated primarily for low-density matrix types like soil, but can be applied on all kinds of materials including rocks, pulps and even liquids. Ideal for environmental testing and screening of things like RCRA metals and other hazardous elements.

SERVICE AND CALIBRATION
Longevity begins with the annual calibration, a checkup for the equipment. Customers send the analyzer back to the factory every year for a full inspection. SciAps will recalibrate analytical apps and update software to the latest version so that the analyzer comes back working even better than it did before. Since things are constantly changing, the calibration also includes a hardware audit — if revisions are recommended, service parts are available at a 10% discount.
LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION
SciAps has created a limited warranty extension that will add a year to the manufacturer’s warranty. This covers one X-ray source or laser replacement in a 12-month period. And, you don’t have to buy the extension at the time of purchase. There is a discount if you do, but you can buy it at any time, which no other company allows.
All of this adds up to greater productivity. With our service program, customers actually use their analyzer to improve everyday throughput. There’s no huge bill if accidents happen, and the small annual service cost keeps the equipment working well year after year. As an added benefit, if something is not covered by the program, there is a 10% discount on parts for those who have the program.
