As a U.S. Department of Energy scientific user facility with global measurement capabilities, the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility is used by scientists to obtain long-term measurements in diverse locales for studying atmospheric processes and improving earth system models. ARM data are currently collected from three atmospheric observatories—Southern Great Plains, North Slope of Alaska, and Eastern North Atlantic—as well as from the three ARM mobile facilities and ARM aerial facilities. Proposals are accepted to conduct field campaigns with arm observatories. In addition, a high-performance computing cluster is available to support processing of large ARM data sets. In May of 2022, ARM marked 30 years of atmospheric data collection, with more than 3.5 petabytes of data collected. All data are freely available online at arm.gov.
