Welcome!

Syracuse University’s Department of Earth Sciences is a very active, research-oriented department with faculty, postdoctoral investigators and graduate students engaged in exciting research projects worldwide. We are a close-knit department, specializing in three general areas of Earth Sciences: solid Earth geosciences, paleoclimatology, and water resources.

Syracuse is located on the edge of the Finger Lakes Region close to other major Universities as well as classic geological terranes of the Adirondacks and Appalachians. The City of Syracuse and SU offer a wide range of cultural and recreational opportunities such as classical music, opera, travelling Broadway shows, dramatic productions at Syracuse Stage, local professional sports teams as well university sports.

Our Department prides itself on being approachable. We are more than happy to try to answer your questions, give advice, or discuss program planning or career goals. Please do not hesitate to contact any of our faculty or staff for more information as well as visit our website at http://earthsciences.syr.edu/
