VELOCITY 5D: High-Fidelity 5D for Real-World Problem Solving

 Press Releases

  • Fast, Scalable, Realistic

Montreal, Canada — Presagis, a global leader in 3D advanced modelling and simulation software, has officially launched its VELOCITY 5D (V5D) cloud-based platform that quickly and automatically converts massive volumes of 2D geospatial data into high-fidelity 3D digital twins. V5D leverages artificial intelligence and game engine technology to run complex visualization and simulation scenarios that derive context from the digital twins.

“The speed, realism, and scalability of V5D for digital twin generation are unmatched in the geospatial industry,” said Jean-Michel Briere, President of Presagis. “V5D can generate a highly detailed nation-wide digital twin from country-sized GIS data sets in hours, not days, and allow users to immediately simulate a variety of planning and mapping situations.”

With no geospatial data processing expertise, V5D users can easily produce accurate digital twins from multiple 2D data sets, including GIS vector layers, remote sensing imagery, and other structured and unstructured data of any size, format, or type. V5D allows users to perform live editing of the digital twin and provides built-in libraries of features and building templates to populate the 3D visualization with people, vehicles, trees, structures, and other objects, making it possible to model both real and hypothetical scenarios.

“V5D expands the digital twin beyond the dimensions of area, space, and time to include context (the fifth dimension (5D)),” said Briere. “This empowers users to better interpret the dynamic world around them, model for future situations, and make improved decisions by visualizing and prioritizing conditions, challenges, and risks in real time.”

Context is the key to location intelligence because it reveals patterns of life, human interactions, crowd behaviors, vehicle traffic movement, and other relationships. These can be identified and understood with V5D in a wide range of application areas, such as Smart City Management, Large Area Mapping, Defense, Infrastructure/Utility Security, Asset Tracking, Disaster Preparedness, and Urban Planning.

The V5D game engine and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities set it apart from other digital twin technologies. The game engine allows for pixel streaming of data, as opposed to tile streaming, which means the information content of individual pixels from the original data set is preserved, resulting in a much more realistic and detail-rich 3D environment. Embedded AI automates the recognition and extraction of objects for faster analysis and change detection workflows.

V5D offers the flexibility to integrate the created 3D virtual environment with nearly any database, data vendor API, or third-party simulation software. Additionally, the Presagis cloud platform lets customers publish the digital twins for easy access and collaboration across the enterprise and among multiple organizations.

“With V5D, we strive to make complexity look simpler and more understandable for the end user,” said Briere. “3D mapping provides a window to represent and navigate convoluted 2D data sets and concepts, bringing clarity and a realistic perspective to decision making at all levels.”

  • Production and Updating of 3D Digital Twins

Montreal, Canada — Presagis, developer of the VELOCITY 5D (V5D) digital twin production platform, has partnered with Airbus Defence and Space to give Presagis customers direct access to the OneAtlas satellite image library from inside the V5D workspace. V5D users can obtain Airbus imagery to fill in geospatial data gaps during digital twin generation or for dynamic updating after it has been created.

“Our content-on-demand partnership with Airbus puts the entire world of high-quality satellite imagery at the fingertips of V5D users,” said Jean-Michel Briere, Presagis President. “Direct OneAtlas access means our customers can search, and access imagery from the geospatial industry’s most diverse offering of satellite data, including the new 30cm Pléiades Neo imagery.”

Launched in November 2022 by Presagis, V5D is a cloud-based platform that quickly and automatically converts massive volumes of geospatial data into high-fidelity 3D digital twins. With no geospatial processing expertise, V5D users can easily produce accurate digital twins from multiple 2D data sets, including GIS vector layers, remote sensing imagery, and other structured and unstructured data of any size, format, or type.

OneAtlas, from Airbus is an online portal that enables users to easily obtain the best satellite image, or combination of imagery, for their specific application, area of interest, and budget. Providing access primarily to the unrivaled Airbus constellation of optical imaging satellites, OneAtlas is the gateway for geospatial professionals to choose from a wide selection of image data resolutions, spectral bands, modes, swaths, and revisits.

“The OneAtlas portal also enables V5D users to schedule tasking of new satellite image acquisitions,” said Briere. “This dynamic updating ensures that 3D digital twins generated in V5D are always accurate, up to date, and realistic.”

V5D leverages artificial intelligence and game engine technology to run complex visualization and simulation scenarios that derive context from the digital twins. This empowers users to better interpret the dynamic world around them, model for future situations, and make improved decisions by visualizing and prioritizing conditions, challenges, and risks in real time.

Presagis will demonstrate the unmatched speed, scalability, and realism of the V5D platform and discuss the new Airbus partnership in booth #340 at GEO Week.
