Oregon Fishermen's Cable Committee
The Oregon Fishermen’s Cable Committee (OFCC) is a liaison group comprising trawl fishermen and owners of submarine fiber-optic cables that land on the Oregon coastline. Its purpose is to foster communication, coordination, and cooperation between the fishing industry and the owners and installers of undersea cables in the Oregon fishing grounds. The OFCC helps cable owners identify cable routes and use installation techniques that maximize burial and minimize the impacts to fishermen. It also negotiates agreements with cable owners for new cable installations, administers a fishing gear replacement program, and has an extensive role in educating the fishing fleet in safe operating procedures around submarine cables.
