Tsunamis are a risk for all coastal communities in Washington state, both on the outer and inner coasts, yet nowhere is this risk more evident than for the maritime community.

As part of its work to mitigate tsunami risk to the maritime community, Washington Emergency Management Division (WA EMD) works with local ports and marinas to complete Tsunami Maritime Response and Mitigation Strategies. These strategies are not only tailored to each entity's unique tsunami threat, which is detailed through site-specific maps, graphs, and other data, but also include actionable recommendations for both tsunami response and mitigation at the facility as well as information for employers, vessel owners, crew, and everyone else who works or spends time within the inundation zone.

The WA EMD booth will have free materials and resources to help everyone in the maritime community understand their particular tsunami risk, what steps they can take before, during, and after a tsunami, and what the state is doing to reduce the impact of tsunamis to this vital sector. Stop by to check out their resources, ask questions, and learn more.

Remember, you CAN survive IF you get prepared!
