Berghaus has always done things its own way. Founded in 1966 in the North East of England by climbers Peter Lockey and Gordon Davison, the brand began when they couldn’t find the right gear — so they built it themselves. From a small Newcastle shop called LD Mountain Centre came a brand known for innovation: early GORE-TEX® adopters, pioneers of internal-frame packs, and masters of gear tough enough for British weather and grit. Over time, their jackets and packs became part of both the mountain and the street.
The new Berghaus ICONS collection pulls straight from that history. It reintroduces the brand’s most legendary designs, like the Meru Jacket, made famous by Liam Gallagher in the ’90s updated with modern materials and construction. It’s not nostalgia; it’s refinement. This line sits at the intersection of performance and culture, celebrating a time when outdoor gear wasn’t about trends, it was about identity, purpose, and a certain kind of British defiance.
