Wine growers from father to son for three generations, The Guy Charbaut family's members have maintained the family character of their Champagne House, perpetuating both prestige of a name and quality of production. In 1930 works grand-father André his first vines in Mareuil-sur-Ay, most of situated on privileged hillsides classed 90 to 100% in the vintage scale, combining both a production of Champagnes of quality and an excellent presentation. He has his own wine presses and cellars in the village of Mareuil-sur-Ay. Burrowed under 25 meters chalk, the whole cellars measure about 1,5 kilometre and have a capacity of three million bottles. His son Guy continues the wine growing activity, planting about ten further hectares during the sixties. Thanks to several years of skill in the elaboration, he has the honour to present his own label. Guy's child, Xavier, is now leading the House, whose whole vineyard extends on about 14 hectares. Vinified with precision, Xavier is keen to produce wines with identity, signatures of a terroir, a winemaker and a style. Each year the sugar content is reduced to allow the grape varieties to express themselves fully.
