Hornbill Group- Klein Goederust Boutique Winery
In 2019, businessman Mr Paul Siguqa, son of a former Cape Winelands farm worker, Nomaroma Siguqa, acquired Klein Goederust, a 10-hectare farm in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, making Klein Goederust the first 100% Black-owned wine farm in the valley.
To stay true to his cultural heritage, but also to respect and honour Klein Goederust’s history, he retained the farm’s name, which dates back to 1905 when the farm was established, but added his IsiXhosa identity to the name by adding the Southern Ground Hornbill (the clan/family crest totem of Paul Siguqa) to the logo.
He restored the original farm building as far as possible while introducing modern, minimalist décor elements.Cemented in the old historic cellar are the remains of the old “dop system”, buried but remembered for the impact it left behind.
Our offering is a story of hard work and determination; a story of self-created opportunity and resilience against all odds. Essentially, it is a story of hope and the “new South African” dream.

Our Selection of Wine
Nomaroma Méthode Cap Classic 2019
Serve well chilled and enjoy the fine bubbles and delicate aromas. Extended bottle maturation
has allowed our MCC to gain complexity of flavour ranging from zesty grapefruit to toasty almond biscuit. A must for any
joyous occasion.
Chenin Blanc 2022
Matured in French oak barrels for 10 months. Fresh tropical fruit aromas combine
perfectly with vanilla/oak flavours offering a rich and creamy aftertaste. To be enjoyed
on its own or paired with fish and white meat dishes.
Chardonnay 2022
Gentle oak aging for 10 months has enhanced the citrus aromas and stone fruit flavours.
An underlaying minerality adds to the complexity and provides the platform for excellent
bottle maturation.
A wonderful companion to seafood dishes and Mediterranean flavours.
Shiraz 2020
Our KGR Shiraz displays typical characters of white pepper and fynbos, further enhanced by black berry and oak
flavours on the palate. Ready to enjoy now but will improve over time and if ideally cellared will maintain its quality for
the next 10 years.
Cabernet/Merlot 2018
Two wonderful blending partners- Cabernet for structure and Merlot for elegance. Soft tannins
supports layers of flavours ranging from cassis to ripe plum and hits of dark chocolate in the background. Very
accessible now but will still improve with age.
