Four generations have followed one another continuously, passing on passion, values, knowledge and skills, in the name of the highest territorial identity and enhancing the most deeply rooted and historical traditions. The Russo family's winemaking tradition began two centuries ago and has been handed down from father to son until today. It all began in 1860 when the Russo family devoted itself exclusively to the cultivation of their vineyards. In 1955, Don Ciccio (Francesco) along with his son Vincenzo (current owner), decided to bottle the wine produced from the family vineyards, creating a small winery. There first wine was bottled in 1956 and was called “Solicchiata”. The family vineyards are located on the North East side of Mt Etna, Europe's highest active volcano. The Russo family own 3 vineyards that stretch from 650 to 1000 meters above sea level, located in Contrada (Italian for district) Crasà, Piano dei Daini and Rampante. The winery is set amongst the largest Russo owned vineyard Contrada Crasà.
