Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) is a full-service, employee-owned naval architecture and marine engineering firm that supports owners, operators and shipyards. Our team of naval architects, engineers, designers, certified weld inspectors, and analysts have expertise with designing vessels and marine facilities, providing engineering support for fleets of vessels and analyzing the feasibility of marine transportation. Since our inception, we have established ourselves as a responsive, reliable and innovative company that harmonizes construction and operations through design.

We look forward to connecting with you in person at the show.

  • 3D Scanning
3D scanning is a valuable tool that allows quick and easy collaboration amongst teams. The benefits are endless including access to real vessel data and walk-through capabilities of engine rooms and passenger spaces.

  • Our 3D scanning services can support:

    • Exterior hull scanning
    • Interior layout
    • Piping systems modifications
    • Structural modifications
    • As-Built drawing development
    • Hull model development
    • Vessel stability documentation
    • Vessel repowers
    • Ballast water treatment installations
    • Equipment removal and replacement interferences
    • Lines Plan
    • Walk-through capability
  • Certified Welding Inspections
EBDG employs professionally licensed engineers who are also certified welding inspectors (CWI) through the American Welding Society (AWS). This combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience is an extremely powerful resource....

  • Our team has demonstrated excellence in both aluminum and steel structure welding.

    • New build & repair weld inspections
    • Development of welding procedures
    • Focus on long term structure quality (Better to Operate) along with design for producibility (Better to Build)
    • USCG and ABS approved structure repair plans
    • Forensic analysis of structural failures
    • Thermal/structural Finite Element Analysis of welding heat input and distortion prediction
    • Work in tandem with shipyard QA/QC personnel as onsite Owner’s Representatives
    • Bring practical welding experience at all stages of vessel design
  • Spill Response Barge
EBDG designed this 400′ spill response barge with capacity for 114,000 barrels of cargo and 14,000 sq. ft. of unobstructed deck space for boom management and deployment. The barge can be used in Ports and Harbors in the event of a major clean-up effort....

  • This proven design optimizes spill recovery capability with attention to crew safety and comfort.
  • Landing Craft
EBDG designed this purpose-built landing craft that services the San Juan Islands in Washington state. The vessel's unique bow ramp allows for vehicles and heavy equipment to drive onto the deck from any beach access....

  • LOA: 87' - 10"

    Beam: 25' - 0"

    Draft: 4' - 8"

  • 150,000 Gallon Bunker Ship
EBDG designed this 126′ bunker ship for Maxum Petroleum. The vessel has capacity for 150,000 gallons and is equipped with a cargo handling system that allows this vessel to move segregated products, lube and fuel oil, without cross-contamination....

  • EBDG’s project scope included concept and contract design, regulatory support and detail design.  The vessel was featured by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects as a Significant Small Ship of 2018.
  • 95' ATB Tug
EBDG provided contract design, detail design, and production support for a new 95′ ATB tug for Harley Marine Services. The 95′ x 38′ x 16′ 3,000 hp ATB Twin Screw Tug was designed for primary operation in the exposed waters of Southeast Alaska....
