  • Ship Classification and Statutory Certification
    RINA has been operating in the marine sector since 1861, providing classification and statutory certification services for merchant ships and is one of the world’s leading classification societies recording a strong, consistent growth....

  • Ships intended to sail in international trade must hold a valid class certificate, issued upon verification of its compliance with the rules of a Classification Society. Furthermore, they must conform to the international regulations on safety, security and environmental protection contained within various IMO (International Maritime Organization) instruments. The implementation and enforcement of these regulations are under the responsibility of each Flag State which may delegate its powers to Recognized Organizations (ROs). RINA covers the entire life cycle of a ship, from the approval of drawings to verify the compliance to class and statutory requirements, to the supervision during construction, to the surveys onboard ships in services.

  • RINA provides support for fleet management and maintenance mainly through 2 digital applications. 1) RINACube, a modular platform able to collect input from different systems and return processed data in real time. It can digitise physical assets to extract operating and performance data, with the aim of supporting clients in operational and predictive decisions involving these assets. It is an open platform to which external developers and production chain stakeholders can contribute and it can be used to provide traditional services digitally (electronic logbook, smart inspections etc.) and to develop new services based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. 2) SERTICA, a shipping ERP system used onboard more than 1400 vessels world-wide. It streamlines internal processes with focus on maintenance, procurement, HSQE and crewing and it allows to achieve optimized performance, increased transparency, improved communication and data management between main office and vessels.

  • RINA provides a wide range of consultancy services for the maritime industry, which can be tailor-made to the customer's specific requirements. They include: drawing approval and survey during construction on behalf of the Owner; IHM lists preparation and maintenance​ (in compliance with the EU Regulation 1257/2013 and applicable to all ships, including yachts, having 500+ GT); ship project engineering concept selection, concept design, pre-feed activities, operational performances; comfort on board, both for ships under project and already in service; training and learning solutions; HAZID/HAZOP/FMEA/FMECA; cyber security analyses; bulk carrier draft increase.; projects of ship life extension, as well as of ship conversions and upgrades, with respect to the entry into force of new Regulations; materials and corrosion: risk assessment and safety management system development support.
