  • GEA OTC Manual Cleaning Separators
Manual cleaning separators with solid-wall bowl and single centripetal pump are today used mostly for the treatment of diesel oil and lube oil on smaller ships....

  • Diesel oil, as well as lube oil, has to be continuously treated on many ships. The GEA Westfalia solid-bowl wall separators, developed for this comparatively small product flow; are characterized not only by their efficiency but also by the very small space they require, an advantage of particular importance, especially given the cramped conditions on board ship.

A pump system takes the lube oil to the purifier which separates the oil at high temperatures of up to 95 °C. The centrifugal separator is designed as a mobile system that is simple and convenient to use wherever hydraulic devices on ships have to be serviced

    Compact Design. Powerful Performance.

    Robust design:
    • Built to last: high-quality robust stainless steel design for reliable performance and operation even under toughest conditions (stainless steel bowl and disk stack)
    Space-saving and flexible solution:
    • The small and compact size enables a simple plug-and-play, space-saving installation, and integration into the existing system, without any necessary changes to engine room machinery
    Cost-effective concept:
    • Reduced operating costs, minimized wear on engine equipment
    • Easy maintenance, operation, and cleaning
    • Simple design, easy installation
    Application:
    • Purification of diesel and lube oil in marine applications (yachts, tugs, pilot boats, tankers, dry-cargo vessels, technical fleet)

  • Pushing the limits with the new GEA bilge Separator

Incorporating an integrated direct drive, the new GEA bilge Separator is a revolutionary solution that offers more performance per square meter of footprint, an extremely simple service concept, and smart connectivity.

GEA bilge Separator is designed for purifying oily water and producing residual oil contents of 15 ppm in all performance classes. Without an additional adsorption filter, without chemicals. This is achieved by means of modifications in the product feed of the bowl and the disk stack, resulting in a gentle product feed and a higher clarifying area.

    Key Benefits:
    • Highly efficient integrated direct drive
    • Compact design with a small footprint
    • Less energy consumption
    • Easy exchangeable drive system
    • Residual oil content downstream of separator <15 ppm
    • Residual oil content downstream of separator <5 ppm by adding adsorption filter
    • Constant monitoring of the overboard valve (similar to GEA SafetyMaster)
    • Optional in combination with SafetyMaster: system-integrated or “stand-alone”
    • MTP ready

    5 ppm with filter

In order to be in a position to meet potentially tighter requirements, many shipping companies are already demanding a guarantee of less than 5 ppm residual oil content in the processed bilgewater. GEA is also able to meet these requirements by adding an adsorption filter.
  • GEA EnergyMaster
In traditional lube oil treatment systems, the hot oil flows back to the engine sump tank to be cooled by the engine cooling system. Therefore the energy for heating the lube oil upstream of the centrifugal separator is lost....

  • Easy cost saving for lube oil treatment systems

Cost saving has become a very attractive proposition on board of ships. The overall economy and less consumption of fuel are essential to be more competitive and to operate a green and environmentally friendly vessel.

As an integral part of the lube oil treatment system in compact unit design, GEA EnergyMaster recovers part of the energy. A recovery heat exchanger is the heart of this system and is designed as brazed plate heat exchanger.

    GEA EnergyMaster is available as
    • intergrated part of the heater unit
    • retrofit package for existing heater units
The return on investment period is outstandingly short, even for retrofit systems.

    Operating principles and constructional features

The cold dirty oil inlet to the separator system is pre-heated by the recovery heat exchanger before the dirty oil is heated up to separating temperature by the standard steam, thermal oil, or electric pre-heater.

The hot clean oil outlet of the separator is used for pre-heating the cold dirty oil inlet.

GEA EnergyMaster is easy to handle, self-regulating, and maintenance-free.

  • Not all fuel oils are the same. Problems can occur with heavy fuel oil in particular because its viscosity does not meet the demands of the diesel engines used. What is more, however, its operating temperature and pressure should also correspond as precisely as possible to the specifications of the engine manufacturer. In the ViscoBoosterUnit, GEA has developed a system that conditions the different fuels perfectly for the diesel engine.

Efficient solutions at the best conditions

The Visco BoosterUnit (VBU) is installed between the fuel oil tank and the engine to be supplied. Fully automatic control allows the viscosity, temperature, and pressure of the oil to be adapted exactly to the specifications of the engine manufacturer. As a result, different qualities of oil no longer have a negative impact on the engine. Regardless of what oil is used as fuel, the engine always runs smoothly because the VBU conditions the fuel to make it compatible with the engine.

    Fulfills all requirements

Depending on the engine manufacturer, different variants are required for the integration of the ViscoBoosterUnit.
GEA has responded by offering a variety of system solutions. Whether with or without stand-by function for feeder pumps, booster pumps, and heavy fuel oil preheaters, or for one or more engines – you will always find a solution that meets your needs and expectations. Naturally, all systems are compact, lightweight, reliable, easy to install, and simple to maintain with all main components operating at optimum performance.
