  • The B4.5L is an in-line, 4-cylinder, 16-valve cylinder head, 4-stroke diesel engine available for propulsion and auxiliary applications. This product meets customer requirements for the power range between 60kWe to 112kWe for generator sets. Based on the Cummins B4.5L industrial engine, the marine solution complies with U.S. EPA Tier 3 emissions regulations without the use of aftertreatment and is backed by Cummins warranty.

    Key features include; the engine design which is built for continuous operation and has a rebuildable engine block; an exhaust system with a water cooled manifold and dry and wet exhaust elbows; a cooling system with a single loop keel cool LTA, tube and shell heat exchanger, coolant expansion tank integral with the heat exchanger and a dry run seawater pump; an electrical system that operates at 12 or 24 volts with simple OEM interface connections, integrates C Command systems and has remote backup throttle available; and finally a high pressure common rail fuel system optimized for best in class fuel consumption.

This customer-friendly solution requires no midlife / top end overhaul, a life-to-overhaul of 1.1M gallons, and better overall total fluid consumption.

    Ideal for commercial transport, offshore supply vessels, and passenger transport, Cummins offers solutions from 2,000hp – 2700hp. The robust engine block is designed for continuous duty operation and sees a 3% fuel consumption improvement compared to our Tier 3 solution. The aftertreatment offers four exhaust configurations and one-person activity via the service access panel to remove and replace the catalyst. This engine has better overall fuel consumption and lower total cost of ownership than its Tier 3 counterpart. Automatic catalyst health management also allows your engine to self-regulate its heating properties.

    While operating at 800hp, the QSK38 is below the power threshold (600kW/805hp) for EPA Tier 4 requirements, and therefore can operate at EPA Tier 3 emissions levels without the use of aftertreatment. Additionally, this solution is superior to others on the market as the life-to-overhaul period is twice as long in certain instances.
