Glosten is a full-service naval architecture and marine engineering firm with offices in Seattle, Washington and Providence, Rhode Island. Since the firm's founding in 1958, we have set out to “do more than design.” Glosten’s engineering capabilities extend to a variety of vessels and marine structures, including research vessels, ferries, tugs, barges, floating bridges, offshore installations, and special-purpose platforms.
Our firm offers naval architecture, marine engineering, marine electrical and controls engineering, ocean engineering, shipyard production support, marine consulting, and owner and on-site support services to clients across a variety of sectors. Additionally, we provide acoustical engineering services through our subsidiary, Noise Control Engineering, a Massachusetts-based consultancy specializing in noise and vibration measurement and control for marine, industrial, commercial, and military applications.
Glosten regularly supports new vessel acquisitions programs, refurbishments projects, and fleet condition surveys in support of capital improvement planning. Our vessel design experience includes hull form development, steel and aluminum structure design, mechanical systems design, propeller and propulsion systems, green technology integration, HVAC, electrical system design, and model testing. We also provide technical advice on available technologies and analysis regarding marine transportation alternatives, their technical feasibility and performance, and associated acquisition, operating, and lifecycle costs.
