For over 130 years, Massachusetts Maritime Academy has been preparing women and men for exciting and rewarding careers on land and sea.  The mission of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy is to provide a quality education for graduates serving in the merchant marine, the military services, and those who serve the interests of the Commonwealth, Nation and global marketplace. The Academy does so by combining a rigorous academic program with a regimented lifestyle that instills honor, responsibility, discipline, and leadership.  

The Academy offers seven undergraduate majors and 3 Masters degrees.  We also have a robust Continue Education program with opportunities for the professional marier
.  Our newest addition to the campus is The Maritime Center for Responsible Energy (MCRE) which delivers training to the renewable energy industry, develop robust, collaborative relationships with renewable energy stakeholders, and coordinate all of the Academy's renewable energy efforts.

  • Massachusetts Maritime Academy, in cooperation with Relyon Nutec, is pleased to offer the globally recognized Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety Training at its Buzzards Bay campus.  This is the first facility in the nation to offer all five modules of GWO Basic Safety Training for Offshore Wind.

    Upon completion of the GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) delegates will possess an awareness of the hazards encountered when working within the wind industry and how to control and mitigate against these hazards. 

    The BST will also equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to appropriately respond in the event of an emergency. They will also be able to increase their safety through proper use of personal protective equipment, emergency equipment, and procedures.

  • Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s Center for Maritime and Professional Training offers several USCG approved and industry recognized training courses for maritime and engineering professionals in both private and government sectors.  Custom training can also be arranged to help your company achieve its training objectives.

    Our Flagship course is the Advanced Shiphandling in Manned Models Program.  This program is a unique training module designed for senior-level officers and pilots who wish to enhance their knowledge of the art of shiphandling. The Manned Models program has been approved by the U.S. Coast Guard for Officers wishing to raise their license to the senior level.

    We are also proud to be the first in the region to offer Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety Training.  This internationally recognized training program teaches critical safety skills to those working on offshore wind turbines.
