STAR Center www.star-center.com is a not-for-profit maritime training school located near Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The school is the leading source of training for USCG licensed merchant marine officers, all departments and trades serving worldwide in the Deep Sea, the Great Lakes and US Inland Waters. STAR Center features in-house port modeling & research and offers more than 80 U.S. Coast Guard-approved training courses, both deck and engine, that are also approved for VA training, including SIGTTO certified LNG training, Fast Rescue Boat and Revalidation Training. STAR Center is a Nautical Institute-approved center for delivering Basic, Advanced and Revalidation Dynamic Positioning (DP) training. License upgrade programs, from unlicensed entry level to Unlimited Master/Chief Engineer are regularly scheduled, as well as a range of professional development courses, including advanced/emergency shiphandling, that build confidence, skills and professionalism to the benefit of mariners and client companies alike. STAR Center provides comprehensive OICEW Apprentice training for selected high school graduates, motivated candidates and veterans who want to pursue careers as seagoing marine engineers.
