Up until the 1970s, it was common practice to use solid weights to test the safe working loads of cranes in the North Sea oil and gas installations. At the end of that decade, WATER WEIGHTS® water-filled proof load bags became the chosen alternative. They were safer, more flexible and since the bags themselves weigh only 2% of the total achievable load when filled – infinitely easier and economical to ship, handle and store.

The innovation that was WATER WEIGHTS® soon became the method of choice for the whole industry. Since then, we have built on that initial success and expanded its expertise and competence. We now offer a wide range of associated services and engineering project management. Our customer base now includes defense, construction, process, power and utilities, and marine and shipping industries, in addition to the oil and gas business where we originally began.

The HYDRACraft 1400 is a purpose designed 14m long aluminium diving daughtercraft that features a V-bottom hull shape for stability in a stationary diving operation. It is equipped with two high performance diesel engines, driving highly manoeuvrable waterjet aft drives achieving a speed of 20 knots. The fully air-conditioned deckhouse provides an uninterrupted panoramic view, and is fitted with 7 seats for diving personnel, 1 seat for the coxswain, a dive control console for 3-diver operation, a toilet and a kitchenette. The daughtercraft system is designed for the function of conducting diving operations in locations that are not accessible by larger DSVs or for underwater weld inspections. The craft is deployed off a mother vessel via a dedicated launch and recovery davit. The boat has a diving deck at the aft where the diver is dressed and enters the water using a 2m single spine ladder deployed at the aft. There is 350kg A-frame davit that is fitted to the aft of the vessel to be used to recover an injured diver.

We provide custom and turnkey speciality boats with expert repair and maintenance services to the commercial oil and gas sector, the diving industry and offshore vessel market. Logistically, we possess the skills and resources to perform specialist repairs on all types of hyperbaric lifeboats and specialised offshore boats. We provide this service through our primary production facility and workshop in Werkendam, and our global network of Unique Group manufacturing and service departments across all major oil and gas hubs.

Compact, versatile and fast—Unique Group’s Uni-Pact has been developed to complement larger survey vessels in missions where a smaller autonomous vessel is better suited.

Uni-Pact is incredibly stable and offers efficient bathymetry from an unmanned platform thus reducing project costs and time.

Market leading multibeam and single beam, shallow water bathymetric survey systems can be closely integrated with ancillary sensors and communication links into a proven remote-controlled platform for quick and easy deployment.

Uni-Pact can survey in locations and situations where deployment of conventional platforms is not possible, it can be controlled manually or programmed to follow routes introduced through an easy PC-based GUI.
