A shipyard using 10X products experienced many benefits with superoxalloy abrasives. Significant schedule compression was unlocked and an SP-5 finish was achieved in one pass. The shipyard saw a profile that was just as clean two weeks later as it was immediately after blasting – zero flash rusting (weather permitting). Annual abrasive consumption dropped 78% from 3.7 million pounds of slag abrasive to 0.8 million pounds of 10X KinetiX on surface area that was 110% more than anticipated. They also estimated an 80% reduction in dust generation which improved employee visibility and resulted in much less dust collector wear.
