Established in 1947, Derecktor Shipyards has since become renowned for excellence in the construction, repair and refit of yachts, workboats, military ships and hybrid vessels. Derecktor, a pioneer in building hybrid electric commercial vessels, has now delivered four hybrid catamarans. These projects have given Derecktor firsthand understanding of the benefits of hybrid and electric propulsion, both for the marine environment and the vessel owner. With this understanding and experience gained, Derecktor is actively developing sustainable propulsion solutions for new build projects and the repowering of existing vessels.
Also on the sustainability front, New York and other nearby states are pursuing plans to become carbon neutral before 2050, a goal to be largely achieved through the development of renewable energy. Derecktor, as the premier builder of work boats in the region, is poised to lead the way yet again this time supporting the emerging field of offshore wind.
