Blount Boats has been building high quality, innovative shallow draft designs for 73 years. Blount's designs have created new industries such as dinner boats and mini-cruise vessels, and also improved efficiency in the fishing and oil and gas industry.
In May, the M/V EDDIE SOMERS completed its delivery voyage to its home port at Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield, MD. The 94x27 foot buoy tender/ice breaker built for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The shallow draft vessel is powered by Cummins QSK19, Tier III marine engines, each producing 750HP@1,800RPM, Twin Disc MGX-5202SC marine generator sets and, two 42x27, 5 blade NIBRAL propellers. The boat additionally has a 5-ton knuckle boom crane for buoy and debris removal applications. The boat will serve as the primary icebreaking asset for Crisfield Harbor and Smith Island, in addition to placing buoys and performing other functions.
Currently under construction are two 30-meter, Hybrid Ready Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV’s) being built for American Offshore Services. The vessels will be the first hybrid ready CTVs operating in the United States. This 99 ft. (30m) state of the art vessel based on N-O-S design, will revolutionize the industry with its completely new high efficiency design and maximized performance. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2023-2024.
Blount Boats can build all designs of crew transfer vessels (CTV's) needed for the growing offshore wind industry. Blount Boats, located on Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island is also ideally suited to maintain wind service vessels. Blount Boats has built two Jones Act transfer vessels operating in Rhode Island and Virginia.
