Austal USA is a ship manufacturer headquartered in Mobile, Ala., with service centers in San Diego and Singapore. With the most modern steel panel line in the shipbuilding industry, Austal's facility is capable of supporting the manufacture of both aluminum and steel ships.  Austal leverages a moving module production line and strict adherence to lean manufacturing principles to consistently deliver on-schedule and on-budget.  Austal is currently under contract to build the Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship, the Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Trasnport, the Navajo-class Towing, Salvage and Rescure ships, the Auxiliary Floating Dry Dock Medium and the U.S. Coast Guard's Haritage-class Offshore Patrol Cutter and is supporting Navy unmanned vessel programs leveraging its advanced machinery control system. Austal USA has earned 21 safety excelellence awards and continues to be one of the safest shipyards in America.

The company's state-of-the-art facility in Mobile, Ala. includes a 15-acre ship repair operation and 20,000 ton Panamax-class dry dock on the west bank of the Mobile River, as well as advanced infrastructure, equipment, vehicles and software that is reducing post-delivery cost and dwell time to our customers. The new repair facility offers 100,000 square feet (9,290 m2) of covered fabrication with an outside fabrication area of 300,000 square feet (27,871 m2), and moorage of vessels up to 1,000 feet (304.8 m) long.

Services provided by Austal's Mobile ship repair operation range from conversions and upgrades to advanced ship repair.  The machine shop/fabrication areas are equipped with overhead cranes, a lathe, and a CNC plasma cutter.
