Austal USA is a ship manufacturer in Mobile, Ala., with service centers in San Diego and Singapore and a technology center in Charlottesville, Va.  Our facility is capable of supporting the manufacture of both aluminum and steel ships. Austal USA is currently under contract for several programs, including the U.S. Coast Guard’s Heritage-class Offshore Patrol Cutter, and the U.S. Navy TAGOS-25 ocean surveillance ship, Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Transport, Navajo-class Towing, Salvage and Rescue ship, Expeditionary Medical Ship, Auxiliary Floating Dry Dock Medium, and Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship programs.  Austal USA’s service business provides global support to U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command and other customers. The company's facility in Mobile, Ala. includes a 15-acre ship repair operation and 20,000 ton Panamax-class dry dock on the west bank of the Mobile River, as well as advanced infrastructure, equipment, vehicles and software that is reducing post-delivery cost and dwell time to our customers. The new repair facility offers 100,000 square feet (9,290 m2) of covered fabrication with an outside fabrication area of 300,000 square feet (27,871 m2), and moorage of vessels up to 1,000 feet (304.8 m) long.

Services provided by the Mobile ship repair operation range from conversions and upgrades to advanced ship repair.  The machine shop/fabrication areas are equipped with overhead cranes, a lathe, and a CNC plasma cutter.
