Marine Group Boat Works is the West Coast’s premier shipyard for boat repair and new construction of vessels up to 220 feet long. With two haul-out facilities in San Diego and Los Cabos, MGBW encompasses over 20 acres of usable land and water, onsite workshops, a machine shop, modernized equipment, and is now home to the world’s most environmentally friendly 665-ton travelift which recently underwent a repower to Tier 4 Engines. The team specializes in designing and building specialty crafts, overhauls, repairs, retrofits, custom fabrications, ABS-certified aluminum and steel welding, propulsion work, engine repowers and hull preservations. It has over 20 years of commercial and military contracting experience in design, construction and life cycle maintenance. Customers include the Navy Force Protection fleet, Amphibious Assault Unit, Port Ops, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Army Corps of Engineers, Coast Guard, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, Foss Maritime, Crowley Maritime, and Millennium Maritime. The shipyard has been featured on The History Channel’s "Modern Marvels” for its 665-ton travelift.
