  Fireaway Announces new Executive Vice President of Global Sales

  MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Fireaway Inc. We are pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. James (Jim) Dickinson, as the executive vice president of global sales. Jim will be based in Dubai, UAE where he resides with his wife and two daughters.

  Jim began in the fire protection industry from a chemical manufacturing background, with Great Lakes Chemical Company in the early 2000’s. Jim has worked with Honeywell Life Safety, Firetrace, and Reacton Fire Protection, in progressively responsible sales roles, all based in Dubai, UAE. Jim is a skilled sales leader and truly an expert in the fire protection industry, particularly well connected and knowledgeable of the Middle East, European, and Asian markets.

  Lance D. Harry, PE, president and CEO stated, “Jim and I worked together back at Great Lakes Chemical. I know Jim to be a fantastic sales leader and I’m confident he will help us continue the growth trajectory of the overall Fireaway business moving forward.”

  Jim has been in Dubai for over 15 years.  He is the vice chairman at the Dubai Hurricanes, Rugby club where they field several men’s and women’s teams, in multiple age categories.  Jim and his daughters all participate for the Hurricanes on the rugby pitch. Jim is also an avid golfer.

  Fireaway Announces United States Coast Guard (USCG) Approval

  MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Fireaway Inc. is proud to announce receipt of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Certificate of Approval (COA) for our pre-engineered Stat-X^® condensed aerosol fire suppression systems to protect Class A (surface), B, and C hazards in marine applications. USCG certified fire protection products are required for vessels operating within the waters of the United States. Stat-X is the first aerosol fire suppression system to secure this respected approval.

  Fire protection systems for marine applications are undergoing rapid technology and regulatory changes.

  • Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) based systems, such as FM-200^TM, are being phased out through various global regulations, including the US EPA phasedown schedule which began in 2022.
  • Manufacturers of other fluorine-based chemicals (such as FK-5-1-12, a.k.a. Novec^TM 1230^TM) used in similar fire suppression systems are voluntarily phasing out production based on accelerating regulatory trends¹.  EU regulators have already initiated this process.

  Fireaway president and CEO, Lance Harry, P.E., points out, “Stat-X is an ideal alternative to these HFC, and Fluorine based systems that will soon become unavailable. The advantages of Stat-X are simple installation, limited maintenance requirements and overall, more cost effective than a gas-based system.”
