 Products

  • Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
At TSGI, we use advanced computer modeling and design tools to provide top-notch naval architecture services....

  • Our services range from structural analysis and finite element analysis to deadweight surveys, hydrodynamic analyses using computational fluid dynamics, and hydrostatic analysis. Additionally, we offer various marine engineering services, such as designing new vessels, re-powering’s, and mechanical and electrical upgrades for existing vessels. Our engineers also specialize in crane specification and integration, piping design, fuel system design, main engine specification, and electrical load analysis. With years of hands-on experience on vessels and in shipyards, our marine engineers have a practical understanding of technical and operational issues.
  • Consulting Services
TSGI provides a broad spectrum of tailored technical support and consulting services for vessel owners, charterers, and operators....

  • These services can be in support of new construction projects, modifications, regularly scheduled dry docks, or more comprehensive maintenance periods. Our consulting services cover areas such as economic analysis, life extension studies, stability calculations, regulatory assessment and communication, fleet optimization analysis, load and off-load calculations and ballast plans, and much more.

  • Construction Oversight and Technical Services
TSGI has been dedicated to delivering top-tier construction oversight services to our clients....

  • These services include schedule review, regulatory plan certification, change order evaluation, and progress payment monitoring. TSGI personnel also conduct regular ship inspections and witness substantial completion, dock trials, sea trials and final completion, while maintaining project records including correspondence, shop drawings, and as-built plans.
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
TSGI performs Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses using Orca Marine’s Simeric’s CFD program to conduct resistance studies on vessel hulls of all forms....

  • Hull models are generated by TSGI’s engineers and are run at various conditions to predict the performance of the vessel. TSGI uses CFD analysis to estimate ship hull performance in calm waters. This is especially useful when optimizing the vessel’s hull form to improve fuel economy. We have used our CFD capabilities to conduct comparative studies of barges, tugs, towboats, ATB units, and other vessels. From these studies, hull form was able to be optimized to provide vessels with improved flow and resistance characteristics. CFD results include running waterline, resistance, wave train, pressure plots, and various other analyses. TSGI uses these results to determine the best hull for its client’s needs.
  • Finite Element Analyses
TSGI has the ability to examine complex structures, for which conventional methods of analysis would be extremely difficult or time-consuming, using advanced computational methods such as finite element analysis (FEA)....

  • Using the latest FEA software and techniques, we can analyze existing projects as well as our own original designs. An analysis is possible for the entire vessel or for only certain areas of interest, such as a foundation that is expected to experience high loads. The fidelity of the analysis is determined and agreed upon ahead of time, and the analysis is carried out in an efficient and professional manner. Our FEA skills have allowed us to answer questions about many designs quickly and with a high degree of confidence. We regularly perform linear static, nonlinear static, buckling, contact, and transient dynamic analyses. Our experience also includes fluid-vessel interactions in various situations, both in still water and in a range of sea states.
  • Towboats/Inland Vessels
At TSGI, we are proud to be the leading innovator in the inland towboat industry....

  • Our team has created a variety of conventional and z-drive towboats for use on inland waterways. Our naval architects are well-versed in the American Bureau of Shipping Rules and U.S. Coast Guard regulations for barges towboats, including Subchapter M. TSGI was involved with the Working Group on developing the Subchapter M regulations and were thrilled to see the final publication. TSGI has played a key role in the groundbreaking changes in the inland waterways industry, including developing the design for the first z-drive towboats, diesel electric towboats, and LNG powered towboats. Our focus is on understanding the unique needs and requirements of each of our clients, and we design vessels that are specifically tailored to meet those needs. We have designs available for boats ranging from 60’-160’, with 800-6000BHP, and we can also create custom designs for towboats of any size.
  • Dump Scows
TSGI has designed dump scows ranging from 250CY to 6000CY....

  • Our latest designs include a series of 2400CY dump scows, which have been created for clients on both the east and west coasts. These barges were designed in accordance with the new ABS rules for dump scows and have been classed by ABS. We also have a selection of “build ready” designs available for dump scows ranging from 250CY to 6000CY, which are perfect for your project needs.
  • Ferries
TSGI possesses extensive experience in designing and constructing a variety of ferries for numerous clients....

  • TSGI is currently under contract with the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) for the contract design and construction oversight of a 495 passenger/ 70 car diesel electric with energy storage ferry (DE/ES), providing services from Galveston Island to Bolivar Peninsula. Once delivered in late 2023, this ferry will be the largest new construction hybrid ferry in the United States. Additionally, TSGI is providing design services for Harris County Toll Road Authority for three new ferries and for TXDOT’s conversion of the JOHN W JOHNSON from Diesel Electric to Hybrid power.
  • Dredges & Dredging Support Vessels
TSGI is experienced in designing a variety of dredges for various clients, including clamshell dredges, cutter suction dredges, and trailing suction hopper dredges....

  • In 2020, TSGI was contracted by Orion Marine Constructions Group, Inc. to perform an overhaul feasibility analysis and modernization design for one of their existing non-self-propelled Cutter Suction Dredges, the EVERETT FISHER, built in 1968, now the LAVACA. TSGI was contracted by Mike Hooks, LLC. in 2021 to provide engineering consulting, review, and construction oversight services for the non-self-propelled 27” Cutter Suction Dredge to their existing four dredge fleet.  TSGI has designs ready for dredge support vessels such as Anchor Handling barges, Idler Barges, and Booster Barges, ready to support the entire range of dredge operations.
  • Barges
TSGI has designed various barges, including liquid and dry cargo, crane excavator, hopper, derrick, rock, and oil barges....

  • We have also provided designs for all types of chemical and petroleum products for use in inland and offshore marine industries. Additionally, TSGI provides design services for crane barges to support marine construction projects, which include barges that support cranes from 50T to 1200T ratings. TSGI also provides design for deck barges, dock barges, and ramp barges.
