  • Energy Efficiency
Increase the Lifespan of Your Propulsion Systems...

  • Our focus is in minimizing mechanical and hydrodynamical losses, combining the best of the equipment for the specific application to boost the energy and efficiency of your vessel, while not compromising the reliability. We ensure your vessel meets the upcoming regulations (CII & EEXI).
  • BERG Hybrid
Environmentally friendlier combined with unparalleled Performance....

  • Our hybrid system consists of an electric motor that independently or simultaneously drives a propulsion shaft, optimizing for low load operation and the lowest operational cost. The electrical motor will be utilized as booster power for maximum bollard pull as well as enabling superior response time. The hybrid system configures the most effective power and propulsion options to meet the needs of the vessel’s operational profile, increasing operating efficiencies as well as meeting or exceeding increasingly stringent environmental requirements.

With our upper gears and thruster design, the step from a diesel mechanic installation towards a hybrid with diesel and electric motor becomes straightforward. Our unique design allows the input shaft to the thrusters to be extended on the aft side of the upper gear so that the thrusters take full input power on both sides of the thruster. In addition, our control system is fully hybrid- capable with built-in functionality for mode selection, mechanical/electric load sharing, power automation, and meeting environmental requirements.

  • Shaft-Line Propeller CPP and FPP
Environmentally friendly and designed to last, with low vibration and maximum efficiency – these are the key qualities of MPP, as controllable pitch propeller and fixed pitch propeller....

  • The marine propulsion controllable pitch propeller is designed for heavy-duty applications. A hydraulic servo cylinder in the hub sets the desired pitch of the propeller blades. As the propeller changes the blades’ angle, it is able to generate a variable thrust, adjusted to suit different operating conditions, such as varying speeds, seas, and currents.

This flexibility makes our controllable pitch propellers particularly useful for vessels that require precise maneuverability. In addition to improved maneuverability, the CPP can contribute to reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions. By optimizing the pitch of the blades, the engine can operate at its most efficient speed, reducing the amount of fuel needed to maintain a given speed. This, together with carefully designed blades optimized for hydrodynamic efficiency, can lead to significant cost savings over the course of the vessel’s lifespan.

The hub lubrication system is a unique oil-circulating system with integrated moisture monitoring. Ours is the first hub system in the shipbuilding industry where the moisture content is constantly monitored, which makes it possible to protect the entire propeller system.

  • Azimuth Thruster
Designed for performance and maneuverability, our BERG Propulsion MTA is a steerable thruster with a custom-made controllable pitch propeller (CPP) or fixed pitch propeller (FPP) available as Z-drive and L-drive....

  • Our thruster design ensures easy integration to diesel mechanical with electric hybrid propulsion systems. BERG MTA thruster and its upper gear is designed for dual power input, such that both main input (diesel engine) and power take in (PTI electric motor) on the same shaft from opposite ends. This arrangement provides high reliability and facilitates precise load sharing for hybrid vessels.    By minimizing the number of loose auxiliaries and integrating components on the upper part of the azimuth thruster, the time needed for installation is kept to a minimum. All components are also inside the hull attachment flange, allowing the unit to be installed from below without disassembling components.

    • Easy access to maintenance parts makes the daily job more simple

    • Reduced time for service jobs

  • Tunnel Thrusters
To provide side thrust, tunnel thrusters are crucial for both auxiliary and dynamic positioning applications.
We offer the complete package as a part of electrical system integration....

  • Improved maneuverability is one of the benefits of our tunnel thrusters. It is particularly useful in applications and situations where precision is required, such as when navigating through narrow channels, tight spaces, and during mooring and harboring operations. MTT makes it easier to navigate through even the most challenging marine environments.

One or more transverse thrusters are used to move the vessel sideways and to rotate it. Available both as FP and CP. In FP, the direction of rotation and motor rpm are altered to control the thrust. The control of thrust in CP is achieved by adjusting the pitch of the propeller. Typically, CP tunnel thrusters maintain a fixed RPM while in use.

Thanks to our extensive experience and expertise in manufacturing and designing controllable pitch propellers over the course of several decades, the installed and designed tunnel thruster shows the same durability characteristics. The principles of the drive line that we used for our well-proven azimuth thrusters were applied to the tunnel thrusters in order to ensure reliability, likewise this apply as well for housing.

  • Direct Drive Electric For Simplicity, Efficiency
The ultimate in simplicity, our direct drive electric has no gearbox and no moving parts except the propeller shaft supported in rugged shaft bearings and takes efficiency and reliability to new heights....

  • Together with our partner, The Switch, we have developed a new method for propelling ships in electric setups with the ‘Direct-Drive Electric’ offering improved efficiency in what we call an advanced conventional technology. This novel setup delivers a robust and simplified configuration to further improve the operation of any application putting special emphasis on reliability and efficiency.  The concept brings particular gains for low, medium, and high-power ranges. In addition to first working vessels, Berg has undertaken conceptual studies for icebreakers, offshore vessels, ferries, naval vessels, and cargo ships.  With the industry-wide shift towards the electrification of ship power already underway, the Direct-Drive system is ideal for integrating gas or dual-fuel engines, fuel alternatives, fuel cells, and batteries.
