On Backyard Gig, a local household or small business owner can post a task and give information about what needs to get done, such as how much they are willing to pay, the location of the task, a description of what it is that needs to get done, and so on. Once the task is posted, a student can go onto the website and find tasks they are able to do. They can then inquire about the task on the website with the poster. Once an inquiry is made, the local household or small business owner can pick the best student for the job. The student then completes the task and once it is finished, the payment is handed over to the student.
Currently, we are in the early stage as we are focusing on early testing with our MVP platform which is live online. Additionally, we are conducting solution interviews with our consumer archetypes to better understand our problem-solution fit as well as our unique value proposition. We hope to expand to the Greater Philadelphia area in the Spring of 2022 and are already making progress by having students in that area sign up on our waitlist.
