We’ve all read about how lighting can be the most important design feature, and it’s certainly true that strategically placed lighting can have a huge impact on design. We’ve even seen lighted furniture timed and controlled by simple phone apps making their way into the marketplace.
Over the last few years, we’ve heard our hotel F&B and restaurant clients tell us they have been looking for ways to change the mood in a designed space, said René Michaels, VP Marketing & Operations at Tableaux. How does one change the colors of an establishment to attract casual business eaters during the day, and more formal diners at night?
Simply adding colored light to a space can make the entire space change to that color. But what if you could change only the color of a single design feature without changing the colors of the objects around or behind it? That’s difficult if not impossible even with directional lighting.
Tableaux (http://tableaux.com) will be showing a new luminescent finish color option for their custom designed “Elements” decorative grilles at #BDNY2018. The finish process involves using an invisible fluorescent paint that only shows its color under UV blacklight. Under visible light these paints appear white, then when UV blacklight is applied, they change to a brilliant color (choice of Yellow, Orange, Blue, Green or Red).
