Red and White Oak were prolific throughout most of the Eastern US and used in construction across agriculture and industry. We carefully skip plane our Settlers’ Plank material so that at least 50% of the overall surface has remnants of original saw marks and patina. Ranging from rough, dark original texture to smooth and bright grain, this grade is durable and rich in character—perfect for high traffic areas as it hides scratches, dents, and other wear wonderfully.

Sourced from forests which are carefully managed according to strict Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) requirements, this high-grade White Oak offers a more uniform appearance than its reclaimed counterpart. Expect consistent color tones ranging from cream to tan and a few small knots. This sustainably harvested wood pairs especially well with our custom eco-friendly finishes for floors and paneling.

We’ve searched the globe to bring you environmentally friendly and ethically sourced teak. This extremely versatile species is reclaimed from non-Burmese sources and is socially responsible—currently, 1% of our teak sales are donated to the Borneo Project in their fight to end the loss of habitat for the indigenous peoples of Indonesia.

Our Teak Bright grade has been carefully planed to a smooth surface that accentuates the swirling tans and toffee browns of the wood. Tight grain makes Teak strong and durable, able to withstand the wear and tear of shoes, animals, and weather. Natural oils make it resistant to rot, insects, and fungi. Thanks to its water-resistant nature, consider including the warm tones and texture of Teak in place of tile in places like kitchens and baths. Add a color finish to customize your hue, use it indoors or outdoors, on vertical or horizontal surfaces—the versatility of teak makes it a valuable arsenal in any design tool-kit.

Black & Tan – 50/50 Mixed Oak

We take the black painted random mix of Red and White Oak boards salvaged from Kentucky horse farms and skip-plane the surface so that 50% of the original paint remains. This makes for a stunning and durable reclaimed floor or paneling with rock and roll character and a great story to tell. We've also developed a few custom finishes for this grade - check them out at BDNY in booth #253.

Shou Sugi Ban is an ancient Japanese technique of burning wood as a preservative treatment for exterior siding. Shallow Char, as the name teases, is typically applied to our sustainably harvested Larch, though we’re open to other species. This grade is circle sawn, giving the boards a roughened, swoopy texture with a lightly toasted look and natural golds swirling with dark areas of char.

Shou Sugi Ban—Shallow Char sold as interior paneling or exterior siding, the char level can change over time, depending on its exposure to the elements. We treat our Shou Sugi Ban Shallow Char with a clear exterior oil to help slow wear. The evolving look suggests the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi—a reminder of the transience and imperfection of all things.

Colors can be added for a pop of contrast, such as with our Color Char line.

A mosaic of hardwood species native to the Northeastern US, you’ll find things like Ash, Elm, Hickory, Beech, Oak, and Maple mixed in, all skip planed to maximize their original rugged patina and saw marks in Settlers' Plank Mixed Hardwoods. On a floor this begs for heavy traffic, hiding even the heaviest wear in its mix of colors and textures. Ranging from deepest black-brown to light tan, every plank speaks to the previous life of this mix of reclaimed woods—perfect for accent walls or flooring.
