Brentano Introduces No. 50 Collection for Fall 2018
A Nostalgic Reflection of the Past and their largest collection to date
Wheeling, IL. (August 2018)— From humble beginnings in their 1990’s workshop, Founder/Artistic Director Iris Wang and her husband, CEO, E-Kwan Chen, have grown Brentano’s line from eight textiles to an impressive range of upholstery, faux-leather and drapery fabrics, with the 50thcollection being their largest launch to date.
“We really specialize in diverse patterns and bold color work, but in saying that, I think what sets us apart is our constant want, and need to always keep learning; new techniques, new suppliers, new inspirations etc. are what helps us grow and build the Brentano of the future. We aren’t out to compete with anyone else, just to be the best, most creative version of ourselves,” states, Iris Wang.
Infusing archival designs with modern fibers and techniques, No. 50 features refreshed and revitalized takes on some of Brentano’s most iconic fabrics. Among them is the stunning piece-dyed jacquard velvet Samara. Available in 9 alluring colorways, this textile was an inspirational expansion of Brentano’s Maple Fall, designed to mimic sunlight passing through tree leaves and the shadows they create. Combining beauty and durability, Samara comes with Brentano’s Tri-sistant finish.
In addition, Diademis a classic pattern updated with a fresh, contemporary palette that expands on Iris’ passion for Chinese art history. Pulling design inspiration from the Tang Dynasty and elements reminiscent of Persian craftsmanship, this 54” width textile passes over 75,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek, Cotton Duck) with an Incase® finish for stain resistance and acrylic backing. A diverse combination of yarns in the weft highlight several exquisite colors providing an iridescent sheen to each of the 8 colorways, including Moonstone, Seaglass and Midnight. Cotton, nylon, linen and polyester fibers provide a dimensional texture with a matte finish and silk-like overlay making Diadem a luxurious choice for upholstery projects for residential and contract applications.
