Our linemen not only work for our customers, we volunteer for mutual aid after disasters. After Hurricanes Irma, Ida, and Dorian, we assisted utilities across Florida, Louisiana, and the Carolinas, and additionally other storm events from New York to Utah. Utilities and Linemen from across the country returned the favor after a straight-line windstorm, called a derecho, swept across Iowa and Illinois on 8/10/2020, bringing 140 mph winds, leaving massive damage.
MidAmerican's Training Center for Excellence in Adel, Iowa, near Des Moines features, indoor and outdoor line work training areas, indoor equipment training, substation labs and augmented reality training programs.
