The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) welcomes dental hygienists to join the largest network of dental and medical professionals dedicated to understanding the oral-systemic connection. Our members hail from more than 30 countries and investigate holistic dental hygiene and other dental practices that promote whole body health, all with the motto: “Show me the science.”
In addition to showing you the science and introducing you to other like-minded health professionals and organizations, we offer the world’s most comprehensive training course in holistic dental hygiene. Our Biological Dental Hygiene Accreditation program is a 10-unit online course that also includes participation in a workshop virtually or in person and the option for one-on-one mentorship. The course is designed to promote the following:
- Awareness of the toxic materials used in dentistry and ways to help protect you and your patients
- Knowledge of mitigating exposure to mercury from amalgam fillings, including IAOMT’s Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique (SMART)
- Recognition of holistic approaches to assist patients in improving oral and overall health
