Exchange 2018 Educational Programming
The Exchange Educational Programming Committee plans sessions in a variety of formats. From the Opening Workshop through the hands-on Expo Pods, you're sure to learn new ways to improve operations at your facility. To make the most of your time in Denver, we recommend purchasing an attendee full registration, which includes admission to the Opening Workshop, Idea Exchange, Expo Pods and concurrent sessions!
All sessions are based on GEAPS' core competencies, and some qualify for partial continuing education unit (CEU) credit.
Ability Level Definitions:
- Advanced: Learner has advanced understanding of the industry. A session at this level might cover strategic and complex ideas, research, technologies and subjects. This session is best suited for experienced professionals in the industry.
- Mid-Level: Learner assumes solid knowledge of concepts of the industry. A session at this level might describe systems and procedures of moderately complex topics.
- Basic: Learner assumes some basic knowledge and exposure to the industry. A session at this level presents an overview of concepts and features and is best suited for newer professionals.

Sunday, March 25, 7-9:15 a.m.
The kick-off event for the Exchange is a two-hour dive into crisis communications, lead by an expereienced industry professional. The interactive session includes a workshop that will have you develop crisis messages and plans for your facility.
Tuesday, March 27, 2-3:30 p.m.
New this year, the Closing workshop is a 90 minute, interactive session that digs deeper into a topic crucial to the grain industry. You will gain applicable knowledge and resources that can be immediately implemented at your facility. The 2018 workshop will give an overview of the signs of substance abuse, causes of use, and tools to engage prospective and current employees to get support for their challenges.
Sunday, March 25, 9:30-11 a.m.
The Idea Exchange features approximately 13 participants delivering five-and-a-half minute presentations. The program includes two segments:
“Small Changes….Big Impact!” highlights ideas that grain operations managers and workers put into practice to improve safety or efficiency at their facilities or enhance environmental awareness, company culture or community involvement.
“What’s New?” includes new products and services developed for grain operations during the past year.

The most interactive learning opportunity at the Exchange, Expo Pods offer hands-on learning opportunities in the Expo Hall. Designed for small groups of up to 40 attendees, these sessions feature interactive presentations and equipment demonstrations. Presentations include hands-on time and question-and-answer sessions.
Monday, March 26, and Tuesday, March 27, 10-10:30 a.m.
Follow up with speakers in the GEAPS Booth in the Expo Hall. Ask questions about their presentations, and get into more technical information to address issues at your facility.
Sunday, March 25 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Students will learn about various career paths in the grain handling industry through round-table discussions with current industry professionals, followed by an afternoon meeting the Exhibitors in the Expo Hall to see the latest technology in the industry.
The event is free for all full-time students and accompanying faculty.
Sunday, March 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Students, faculty and GEAPS leaders are invited to gather at Tarantula Billiards Bar & Grill. Students will have the opportunity to relax and mingle with GEAPS leaders, while enjoying refreshments and playing pool at the best billiards bar in Denver! The Tarantula Billiards Bar & Grill is just a block the Colorado Convention Center, on 15th Street and Stout Street. This event is free for invited students, faculty and GEAPS leaders.
