Latest Developments
3D Embossed and Apertured Nonwoven
In addition to its comprehensive portfolio, SAUERESSIG Surfaces will present its latest developments in 3D embossing and apertured nonwovens at IDEA in Miami.
The development process combines the production of 3D embossed and apertured nonwovens, creating the possibility of adding new special effects to high-quality nonwovens while improving material properties. The process is achieved by using a set of high-precision heated rollers with equally accurate engraving designs. Such extreme precision is required due to the high processing speed with currently up to approx.600 m/min. SAUERESSIG Surfaces aim is to provide solutions to increase the production speed even further.
The application enables nonwovens producers to expand their portfolio and diversify in the market with new and unusual designs, enhance product properties, generate completely new applications, and increase the production speed.
Nonwovens produced with this process have a low weight in contrast to conventionally produced nonwovens, impress with extraordinary and new design possibilities and 3D effects, have an improved tensile strength with good elasticity, are pressure resistant and have a high air and water permeability.
Pilot Line for 3D Embossed and Apertured Nonwoven
3D Embossed and Apertured Nonwoven Fabric
SAUERESSIG Surfaces offers complete units and lines for offline 3D embossed and apertured fabrics.
To complete the range and enable customers to run trials, SAUERESSIG operates two pilot lines with working widths of up to 250 and 1100 millimeters.
Furthermore, SAUERESSIG Surfaces offers nickel sleeves for 3D embossed and apertured nonwovens produced in a hydroentanglement process. These apertured spunlace nonwovens are widely used in the health and hygiene sector where a variety of products such as wipes, gauzes, meshes, and compresses are made from apertured spunlace.
When it comes to the manufacturing of apertured spunlace, the production via a wire mesh has significant advantages, as this process is cost-effective. This method, on the other hand, has limitations in terms of clarity, open area for air or liquid flow and in particular leads to high volume grammage of the nonwoven fabrics.
Already decades ago, SAUERESSIG Surfaces developed and perfected a solution to freely define the size and depth of the aperture elements within the nonwoven and added the possibility to mark them with the brand of the respective manufacturer, offering diversification in the market. In Addition, SAUERESSIG Surfaces offers the further advantage of testing the production with Celenium plates before manufacturing the production screens with the exclusive laser + etching method.
