  • ECOPact Low-Carbon Concrete
ECOPact is the industry’s broadest range of low-carbon concrete for high-performing, sustainable and circular construction. ECOPact is sold at a range of low-carbon levels, from 30% to 100% less carbon emissions compared to standard (OPC) concrete....

  • Low-carbon construction starts with the right materials.

Concrete is the most reliable and widely used building material in the world, with a whole host of advantages. That’s why, as the demand for more sustainable solutions and developments in research increases, we’re offering a comprehensive range of products to meet the evolving needs of our customers - without compromise.

ECOPact is the industry’s broadest range of low-carbon concrete for high-performing, sustainable and circular construction. ECOPact is sold at a range of low-carbon levels, from 30% to 100% less carbon emissions compared to standard (OPC) concrete.

    What is ECOPact?

    • ECOPact is a concrete with lower embodied carbon content compared to a reference concrete designed with OPC
    • ECOPact demonstrates equal or better properties than conventional concrete
    • ECOPact offers assurance of quality and genuine lowering of the environmental impact

    How is ECOPact made?

    • Optimized cement content, a high portion of Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM)
    • Optional: A specific service/partnership to offset the remaining carbon footprint

    Project Case Study: 55 H Street | Washington, D.C.

    ECOPact at 55 H Street

Georgetown University, anchor of the Washington, D.C. neighborhood that shares its name, is expanding into the heart of the city with a new residence hall on H Street near the US Capitol. The 12-story building will house 476 students, and the innovative design supports the university’s commitment to both sustainability and creating a vibrant campus experience. Read more....

  • OneCem Portland Limestone Cement. The One Cement You Need for a Successful Project.

OneCem is a blended cement in which finely ground limestone (5 to 15%) is an integral component within the cement. OneCem has been designed to have equivalent performance to existing cements and is rigorously tested to verify its performance. OneCem is currently manufactured according to both ASTM C595 and AASHTO M 240 Standard Specifications for Blended Hydraulic Cements.

Growing concerns over the environmental impact of building materials has been a driving force for the adoption of sustainable solutions. Part of the Envirocore™ Cements series, OneCem offers the same level of performance and workability you expect from ordinary Portland cement. Manufactured with quality limestone, it uses less clinker than the traditional manufacturing process and reduces CO2 emissions by 5 to 10 percent per metric ton of cement.

    Applications

    • Ready-mixed concrete
    • Architectural & structural
    • Precast elements
    • Concrete block
    • Paving
    • Geotechnical

Project Case Study: Colorado State Highway 470 | Denver, CO

Colorado State Highway 470 (C-470) is a vital transportation link connecting southwest Denver with Interstate 70. More than 100,000 vehicles each day travel along a 12.5-mile heavily congested corridor of the C-470 freeway, which is projected to be 30 percent over capacity by 2025. With traffic volumes forecast to increase 40 percent by 2035, correcting C-470 mobility deficiencies was an urgent need. Read more....

Project Case Study: Batson Children's Hospital | Jackson, MS

Batson Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in Mississippi dedicated to providing children with medical care in more than 30 specialty areas, including newborn medicine, pediatric cardiology, neurology, and surgery. From the very beginning, the project team was committed to incorporating exemplary levels of sustainability in construction. With concrete being a significant portion of the expansion project, the use of sustainable materials in the high-performance mixes was of paramount importance. Read more...

  • Discussion Topic: Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are like nutrition labels for building materials. They provide information about the environmental footprint of products so that customers can make informed decisions about the materials they choose. LafargeHolcim conducts an in-depth analysis of each product it manufactures to determine environmental performance and confirms these results with an independent third-party source. The company then uses this data to create EPDs for each product.

    Discussion Topic: Blended Cements

Blended cements are a mixture of traditional Portland cement and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) that are either blended together or interground at the manufacturing facility. SCMs offer sustainable and performance advantages for those who construct buildings of all kinds. Their use as a partial replacement for Portland cement not only results in more durable, high-performance concrete but also lowers energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Discussion Topic: OneCem Portland Limestone Cement

OneCem is a lower carbon option that has been engineered to be the one cement used in everyday applications. OneCem meets the specification requirements of C595/C595M − 19 and AASHTO M 240 in which the allowable finely ground limestone within the cement ranges from 5 to 15 percent. OneCem has been rigorously tested to verify its concrete strength development, setting time characteristics, durability, and other performance properties.
