Profile

Richard W. Vitaris retired after 28 years as an administrative judge with the MSPB, having previously served as a labor counselor and as an active duty Judge Advocate with the Army. He received his B.A. degree from Georgetown and his law degree with highest honors from Rutgers University where he served as Articles Editor of the Rutgers Law Journal. He also received an LLM in labor law from George Washington University. He is certified in administrative law and dispute resolution by the National Judicial College. He lectures extensively on MSPB law and procedure and is a columnist on ER practice for cyberFEDS. He has written for publication for the Military Law Journal, the Army Lawyer, the Valparaiso Law Review, and the Rutgers Law Journal. He is a multiple recipient of the MSPB Chairman's Award for Excellence. He is a registered mediator in Georgia.
