Denise Patterson McKenney is a recently retired Commissioner and Senior Mediator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, Office of Conflict Management and Prevention. As a collateral duty, Denise served as the Director of Equal Employment Opportunity for 11 years. Denise’s areas of expertise include mediation of collective bargaining agreements between unions / management, workplace employment disputes, training design / delivery, and conflict coaching and systems design. Denise’s publications include “Labor-Management Partnership: A 12 Step Program for Change” published in the American Bar Association’s Desk Book for ADR Practitioners. Denise brings 34 years of mediation experience to the mediation table and has presented workshops domestically and internationally. Denise is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communication. Denise holds a Master of Science Degree in Instructional Systems Technology and is a graduate of the Training and Development Program at Georgetown University, Washington, DC. Denise currently serves as a Board Member of the Federal Dispute Resolution Conference and is an annual presenter. Denise also serves as a member of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Presidential Rank Awards Committee, ranking Senior Executive Service employees, nominated by their agency leadership. In her spare time, Denise enjoys travel, ballroom dancing and performing comedy. Denise believes that learning is a fun, life-long activity.
