Profile

Don Rider, J.D. was formerly Collegiate Professor of Human Resources Management and Labor Relations at The University of Maryland Global Campus. He is also an active consultant and trainer. He teaches both introductory and advanced Human Resources subjects in the classroom setting and on-line. Prior to joining the full-time faculty at UMGC , he worked at the FDIC as Counsel, Labor and Employment Law. He represented the agency in arbitration and unfair labor practice cases and before the Federal Service Impasses Panel. As legal advisor to agency bargaining teams, he served as an advocate in mediation, fact - finding and interest arbitration. His Federal career included stints with both the NLRB and the FLRA, and as Associate General Counsel of FPMI.
Don is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has contributed articles to www.fedsmith.com He is the author of two books published by FPMI, including The Desktop Guide to Unfair Labor Practices. For more than a decade he wrote the monthly “Advisor” column for LRP publications.
Mr. Rider received his undergraduate degree from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and his law degree from the American University, Washington, D.C. He is a member of the bar of the State of Maryland.
