Dr. Deborah Carlson, Ed.D.

Dr. Carlson brings educational leadership and professional development expertise to the Florida Institute of Education. For 26 years she served military families in the Department of Defense Dependents Schools as a school Principal. For six years she directed a team of staff developers in 50 schools (DoDEA), to implement a system-wide series of graduate courses in Classroom Observations, Analyzing Teaching, and Classroom Management. At UT Knoxville she taught undergraduate courses in elementary education; supervised student teachers; and was the Co-PI on a two-year U.S. DOE grant to evaluate Tennessee’s Career Ladder Program. She has authored/co-authored in refereed journals in the areas of action research, music education, and robotics and programming for preschool aged children.
