Description

TABLE 1: Schools normalized having band, weights, and culinary classes in the past, so why not esports? It’s the perfect time to create an academic esports pipeline because if we learned anything during the pandemic, we realized we have to try innovative ways to engage students. Esports can provide students with post-secondary success, whether it is through scholarship opportunities or a job in an already established billion-dollar industry. Maybe you know it’s popular, but you don’t see how it fits into education. You may even have false pre-conceived notions about gaming and gamers. This session will crush those false narratives and provide you with evidence-based mental health research and resources, the CTE pathway to creating an esports pipeline, its benefits for your students, and how to get started.
