Students may be back in their classrooms, but many non-teaching staff are not back in the office. Those who are back continue to advocate for more flexibility in working from home if their specific position can be performed successfully from off-site. However, while some employees continue to work remotely, we must remember the K-12 education industry is very much a target for hackers today. Our databases contain millions of records with a plethora of information about both students and staff that is lucrative to sell on the dark web. Technology departments have scrambled in recent years to implement security practices and purchase security tools to protect students and staff on campus and in the office.
